November is Military Family Month -- a month dedicated to the incredible contributions and sacrifices military families make so that we can enjoy a secure and free nation. The challenges they endure as their loved ones selflessly serve in our Armed Forces are not forgotten. I am proud to work in Congress on behalf of these brave, devoted families.
While troops are serving overseas, family members must take care of routine tasks at home which often take extra effort in the absence of a spouse, parent, sibling or child working to protect our nation. They spend holidays and major family moments miles apart -- a gift many of us take for granted. And they stand strong through multiple deployments and moves, a rock for our many service members. For these sacrifices and many more, military families are inspirations to us all.
The support a strong family provides to our troops abroad is invaluable and I know those who serve have solace knowing their families are safe at home. It is crucial that Congress continues to support military families and understand the unique challenges they endure.
Though November is Military Family Month, military families courageously serve our nation year round. I am proud to support legislation that assists military families and those who serve but also recognize that more can be done. I will continue working for those who provide unending support to our men and women in uniform.
