On Friday, President Obama announced that all U.S. troops in Iraq will be withdrawn by the end of December 2011. Like many Americans, I am eager to bring our troops home to their families, but I worry that rushing the withdrawal of troops could diminish the progress that we have made in the region. Iraq still faces threats, and we must make sure that the government is stable before we pull out of the area completely. We must fulfill our commitment to the Iraqi people and complete the mission that began close to a decade ago. The work performed by our servicemen and women in Iraq is second to none, and I thank them for their service and dedication.
