Virginia has a history of developing unsustainable spending habits during good economic years. During the lean years, when these habits can no longer be supported, we hear demands for tax increases by those who have become reliant on these bloated state programs. We must break this cycle by cutting waste, eliminating failing programs and challenging unfunded and unconstitutional Federal mandates. We do have funding needs, especially in areas like transportation and education, but Virginia does not need higher taxes; it needs more taxpayers. By developing a welcoming business environment and limiting spending through an awareness of economic cycles, we will produce the revenue needed to run this state efficiently, allowing our citizens to keep more of their hard earned income.
