The key to strengthening our economy is to get Virginian's back to work in long-term, good paying careers. Government spending may create short-term tasks, but it does not create sustainable jobs. It is the private sector that provides quality career opportunities and it will hire when two conditions are met, there is a need for employees today and confidence that this need will continue in the future. Government's role should focus on clearing the path for businesses to function and then to operate itself in a manner that promotes stability and economic confidence. For nearly 25 years, I've sat at the table with engineers, plant managers and CEO's to develop strategies for expanding productivity and managing government regulations and red tape. Through my customers and my own business, I've learned what draws employers and what drives them away. I will take that experience to Richmond so that we can bring quality career opportunities to Virginia.
