Leader Cantor Statement On UNESCO

Location: Washington, DC

Today House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) released the following statement condemning the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's vote granting full membership to the Palestinian Authority.

"Today, America has made clear that UNESCO's vote is an affront to the international peace process and an impediment to negotiations between the Israelis and Palestinians. Americans will not stand for unilateral efforts by the Palestinian government to seek international recognition. We stand by Israel as our most valued ally in the region, and the Palestinian Authority must understand that peace is only achievable when the state of Israel is accepted and respected."
