Congressman Pearce Votes to Protect Life

Statement

Date: Oct. 13, 2011
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Women Abortion

Today, Congressman Steve Pearce voted in favor of H.R. 358, the Protect Life Act.

"Two-thirds of Americans oppose federal funding for abortion. Today, the House passed the Protect Life Act, which stops taxpayer dollars from financing elective abortions," said Pearce. "It also ensures against requirements to offer abortion services. These measures need to be taken to protect life and to protect the morals that this nation was founded on. Additionally, the President has promised to veto this legislation, but before doing so, he should give thoughtful consideration to the protective measures within this bill. The President supports federal funding for abortion. Taxpayers should not be required to pay for these procedures, and there should not be requirements to offer these services."

H.R. 358, an amendment to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), was passed in the House today, and will go on to the Senate for consideration.
