U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill today released the following statement after the Senate unanimously passed an increase in the Veteran's Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment:
"Our disabled veterans and their families have paid a tremendous price defending our nation's freedom and have earned our eternal gratitude," McCaskill said. "We made a promise to our veterans that we must make good on to ensure they aren't falling behind and receive the best care once their mission is done. I call on the House and Senate to quickly get a final bill to the President's desk that will provide a cost of living adjustment for our disabled veterans. This will help these veterans and their families breath a little easier, which is a good thing."
The Veterans' Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2011 will provide an increase beginning December 1, 2011. The increase will apply to veterans' disability compensation, additional compensation for dependents, the clothing allowance for disabled veterans, and dependency and indemnity compensation for surviving spouses and children.
