Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after Congressman Dennis Cardoza announced he would not seek re-election in 2012:
"Congressman Dennis Cardoza has been a stalwart advocate for his constituents and a leading moderate voice in Congress.
"Congressman Cardoza has led on behalf of consensus and bipartisanship; his efforts were essential to the Democratic successes in making pay-as-you-go budget rules the rule of the House and the law of the land during our Majority. He has worked tirelessly on behalf of the needs of his district, particularly law enforcement, agriculture, and housing.
"Congressman Cardoza has been a tireless voice for national action to address the foreclosure crisis, which has devastated communities in his district and across the country. He has been a dogged advocate in demanding action, progress, and accountability for the people of the Central Valley and for all Americans.
"After nearly 20 years in elected office, Congressman Cardoza has earned our gratitude for his service. I wish him and his family the best in their future endeavors."
