We are second to none as far as our education system goes. The sky is the limit as to the opportunities our citizens have available to them. The world is changing and education must adapt with it. Pouring more money into the system is not the answer. We must focus on efficiency. What we did in the past may be outdated and we must adjust accordingly. In doing so, we re-direct our energies and resources.
I will pursue ideas that promote personal responsibility, from both the student and the parent. I believe that a student's performance is greatly influenced by his/her home life. School is not daycare. I feel that often there is a conflict between what is or isn't being taught at home and what is being attempted through the school system. I will pursue tax credits for those choosing alternate opportunities for educating their children.
