Taxpayers Foot the Bill for NBA Players?

The NBA players' union is using the taxpayer funded National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to file charges of unfair labor practices, according to a story from SI.com. U.S. Congressman Austin Scott (GA-08) cites today's charge as a prime example of why removing the NLRB's adjudicatory power is necessary to put labor disputes on a level playing field:

"If the NBA players union would rather duke it out in court than "on the court" then it should be in the same U.S. court as everyone else and not through the taxpayer funded NLRB's court system.

"H.R. 2978, would remove the NLRB's adjudicatory power thereby preventing the NLRB from passing the bill to the taxpayers. Taxpayers should not fund legal advocacy costs for millionaire players or billionaire owners. If passed, my bill will ensure that this can never happen again."
