Increase Freshwater Diversion Projects

We all understand that our soil is subsiding.

After almost 80 years of diverting the Mississippi to the Gulf, removing the restorative properties of silt deposition and fresh water replenishment from the marsh has taken its toll.

We must introduce life sustaining fresh water and soil building silt back into our ecosystem or life as we have known it will cease to exist. We must restore life to the marsh or the "Good Earth" of Terrebonne will be an historical footnote instead of the French translation that describes the land around us.

Montegut and Chauvin were once surrounded by cow pastures and horse farms. My grandparents and their friends enjoyed a wonderful "country" experience growing up!

Why in the world are we not allowed to dig the "Good Earth" of lower Terrebonne that sits inches below the salt water intrusion to finish Morganza to the Gulf? I will IMPLORE THE CORPS to let us use our God Given Common Sense to reduce the cost and time it will take to complete Morganza to the Gulf!

Stop the Waste and Inefficiency. No More Studies!

Do we really need to pay another penny to anyone to tell us that this situation is about to become a CATASTROPHE.

Instead of studies, let's try paying contractors to build levees. Let's ask the Sheriff to provide prison labor to help build the levees. Let's ask the Oil Companies to help us build levees.

I would like to know…have we made a concerted effort to ask the Oil Companies to HELP US!

As your Representative, I will work with other Coastal Leaders from South Louisiana…and other Coastal States, to IMPLORE THE CORPS to allow us to use common sense principles to save our way of life.
