Long Awaited Passage Will Create American Jobs

Statement

Date: Oct. 12, 2011
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Trade

U.S. Congressman Pat Tiberi (R-OH) today issued the following statement regarding the U.S. House of Representatives' votes on the three pending free trade agreements:

"I support these trade agreements because they mean more American jobs. Earlier this year, I asked the United States Trade Representative, Ambassador Kirk, how many American jobs would be created because of these agreements and he replied 250,000. Agriculture is still number one in Ohio and these agreements mean a $55 million increase in agriculture exports from Ohio alone. Just like President Obama said "If Americans can buy Kias and Hyundais, I want to see folks in South Korea driving Fords and Chevys and Chryslers. I want to see more products sold around the world stamped with three proud words: Made in America.' I couldn't agree more."
