U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-8) today release the following statement after voting against legislation that included free trade agreements with South Korea and Columbia without any provisions to address China's currency manipulation, all of which pose unfair trade imbalances against American workers and their families.

"In this challenging economy, we cannot lose sight of the plight of the American worker. It is amazing how the House Republican leadership persist in doing just that by advancing this legislation," said Pascrell, a member of the House Ways and Means Committee and House Budget Committee. "Tonight's vote turns a blind eye to Colombia's indifference to continuing murders of labor leaders as well as South Korea's enabling other nations, including China, to gain duty-free access to American markets. Meanwhile, it does nothing to address China's manipulation of it currency value, which has a disastrous effect on American workers. While we may not be able to correct ills around the world in a single vote, we can at least retain our American values. Tonight, the House majority did neither."
