Congressman Eric Cantor (VA-07) today issued the following statement in honor of the 11th anniversary of the terrorist attack on the USS Cole, a destroyer homeported at Naval Station Norfolk:
"Today, we remember the seventeen American sailors and the families who lost their loved ones eleven years ago when al Qaeda terrorists attacked the USS Cole in Yemen. It is with immense gratitude and respect that we honor those who gave their lives that day, as well as the 39 injured, while honorably serving our nation.
"Among these brave sailors was Hull Maintenance Technician 2nd Class Kenneth Eugene Clodfelter who was a constituent of mine. His name is inscribed on Virginia's Wall of Honor alongside the brave men and women of the Commonwealth who have given their lives fighting to defend and protect our freedom. Their lives and their sacrifice for our country will never be forgotten. Next month, one of the alleged terrorists behind the USS Cole attack will finally face justice."
