Congressman Canseco's Statement on House Passage of the Protecting Jobs From Government Interference Act (H.R. 2587)

Congressman Francisco "Quico" Canseco (TX-23), a former small businessman and member of the House Financial Services Committee, released the following statement after the House of Representatives passed the Protecting Jobs From Government Interference Act (H.R. 2587) by a vote of 238-186:

"After traveling throughout the 23rd District of Texas, I continued to hear loud and clear from job creators the message I've heard since Day 1 of taking office, which is that Washington policies and the uncertainty they have created in our economy are responsible for anemic job and economic growth we see in our economy today. What I didn't hear from job creators in my district was a need to double down on the failed economic policies of the Obama Administration that have attempted to spend and borrow our way to economic prosperity, as President Obama proposed in his speech before the United States Congress.

The decision of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) in the case of Boeing, represents the hubris and arrogance of the Obama Administration, which seemingly believes that Washington has the right to dictate where a private business can and cannot locate jobs in the United States. At a time when we have 14 million Americans who are unemployed, it is unconscionable that a government agency would directly act to prevent private sector job creation in the United States, when President Obama has declared job creation one of his top priorities. Without the Protecting Jobs From Government Interference Act, the dangerous precedent set by the NLRB would stand and have a negative effect on job creators across the country because it would signify a new era of overreach by the federal government into the private sector's ability to grow and create jobs."
