U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that Midwest Biodiesel, LLC., headquartered in South Roxana, will be receiving a $54,984.23 payment from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The USDA makes payments, through the Bioenergy Program for Advanced Biofuels, to eligible producers to support and ensure an expanding production of advanced biofuels.
Biodiesel is produced from domestic, renewable resources and can be used as a pure fuel or blended with petroleum.
"Supporting domestic, bioenergy production makes sense for our economy, our national security and our environment," said Costello. "At a time when our focus needs to be on jobs, the biofuels industry is providing employment for American workers and a market for American farmers."
