Creating jobs has always been my number one priority as Senator. Better jobs mean a better quality of life for Louisiana's families. As the Chairman and member of numerous businesses groups and organizations, I have been a longtime advocate for Louisiana's small businesses. I am a firm believer that government does not create jobs and for our economy to flourish we must allow businesses to expand and innovate by giving them the resources they need.
While serving on the Senate Commerce, Consumer Protection, and International Affairs Committee, I have fought to ensure Louisiana is competitive in attracting the best and brightest businesses by providing funding for important resources such as our ports, and supported tax credits for small businesses. I have also opposed new taxes and regulations on businesses that I thought would hinder their ability to compete on a national and global level. This is why I have been given high ratings by the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry, receiving a 100% record in 2010.
