"We Can Absolutely Protect Our Environment While Growing Jobs."

Statement

Congressman Rob Woodall (R-Lawrenceville) issued the following statement after the House passed H.R. 2401, the TRAIN Act, which is a bill delaying the implementation of controversial Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rules that would place additional emissions requirements on power plants. By the EPA's own estimates, the Utility MACT rule alone would cost more than $10 billion, making it one of the most expensive environmental regulations in the history of the agency.

"The bottom line is we can absolutely protect our environment while growing jobs. Now, more than ever, we need to take a close look at burdensome government regulations that cost American businesses billions of dollars and continue to stall job growth. The TRAIN Act allows us to do just that by requiring a comprehensive cost-benefit analysis of the EPA's major rules and regulations. The Obama Administration is giving Americans a false choice between the environment and the economy. This is not a one-or-the-other choice. We can do both. I hope that the Senate and the President will act quickly on this legislation so we can continue to protect the health of our environment while ensuring that American jobs do not needlessly move overseas."
