On Thursday, I appeared in an investigative report conducted by NBC's Today Show looking into the safety of food transportation trucks. The report revealed drivers transporting frozen and refrigerated food at unsafe temperatures in the state of Indiana and possibly around the country. Six years ago, Congress directed the FDA to regulate trucks transporting food. At the beginning of this year, Congress said "enough is enough' and ordered the FDA to finalize the regulations by July 2012. As Chairman of the Health Subcommittee, I have oversight of food safety and the FDA. I'm going to make sure that the agency meets that deadline. Another summer should not pass without clear rules protecting consumers.
