Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) will attend a reception being held in her honor on Monday, September 19th by LATINA Style Magazine. LATINA Style is recognizing Ileana's many contributions advancing the cause of Latina women in South Florida and across the nation. The reception will be held at the Fontainebleau Hotel from 5:00 to 6:00 pm (4441 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach).
Congresswoman Ros-Lehtinen was the first Cuban American and the first Hispanic woman elected to Congress. She is also the first Hispanic woman to Chair one of the main national security Committees in the U.S. House as she serves as the current Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee.
Said Ros-Lehtinen, "As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, it is important that we recognize the work of all Hispanics who have led the way for so many others to succeed. Hispanics have made major inroads in broad areas of society through their hard work, perseverance, and setting specific goals and in doing so we have made a positive impact in our communities. I am honored to participate in this reception hosted by LATINA Style magazine. I look forward to meeting with other leading Latino personalities who are hard at work setting an example for all to emulate."
This reception honoring Ileana is one of many events taking place as part of the US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce annual conference.
