The beginning of the High Holidays brings with it a time for solemn reflection and remembrance of the year past, amidst hope for consistently better days in the weeks and months to come.
This Rosh Hashanah brings continued challenges for our Jewish brethren in the Middle East, but through it all, it's important that Texas and the United States remain committed to a strong and secure Israel, which has been one of our most dedicated partners in the ongoing war on terror.
Independent-minded and self-reliant, Texans and the Israeli people have a great deal in common, another reason we have enjoyed an ongoing partnership that goes much deeper than mere trade.
As Texans, and as Americans, we stand ready to move forward with Israel in search of the peace, prosperity and security we desire for all our children.
I wish everyone marking Rosh Hashanah much happiness and prosperity in the coming year for yourselves and your families. L'Shanah Tovah.
Governor of Texas
