Congress Needs to Hear from You: eForum on the American Jobs Act

Statement

Date: Sept. 22, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

Friends,

I'm sure that most Americans can on at least one thing -- getting Americans back to work should be the top priority for Congress. The problem is, it's not.

That's why Congress needs to hear from you.

The President is asking Congress to pass his American Jobs Act, to help small businesses, fund construction-related jobs in school repair and modernization, create jobs for teachers and first responders, and fund job training and reemployment assistance to the unemployed.

The Education and Workforce Committee Democrats have announced an eForum to gather their personal stories about the economy and jobs.

Nearly two weeks ago, Ranking Member George Miller asked the committee chair to take action on the President's plan, but so far there's been nothing but silence. No hearings, no discussion, no schedule for a vote.

That's why the committee Democrats are hosting an online eForum, to gather personal stories from Americans in the areas of education, construction and long-term unemployment -- to help Congress evaluate how the economy is impacting families and communities.

We want to hear from you. Please join the eForum right away. It's easy.

And please share this email with your friends and colleagues who may be interested in contributing to this important discussion. Thank you very much.
