Congressman Jon Runyan issued the following statement regarding the 224th anniversary of the signing of the United States Constitution:
"On September 17th 1787, 39 men, 4 of whom hailed from New Jersey, came together and signed a document that would stand as the centerpiece of our nation's freedom -- the United States Constitution. The Constitution has seen this country through times of economic prosperity and depression and through times of peace and war. In recent years, the desire to understand and read the constitution has swept the country. I applaud this movement because it is important for every person to have an understanding of the founding principles of our great nation. That is why, on Constitution Day, I encourage every citizen to take a few minutes out of their day to read the constitution and appreciate its significance in the founding and survival of the United States of America."
