Today, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) issued the following statement on the House passage of the Protecting Jobs From Government Interference Act, H.R. 2587, to prohibit the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) from eliminating thousands of jobs and threatening long-term economic recovery:
"At a time when millions of Americans are out of work, it is astounding that Washington would take any action to stop the private sector from creating jobs. The National Labor Relations Board is threatening to destroy thousands of new jobs by preventing Boeing from opening a new plant in South Carolina. As a citizen of Virginia, a Right to Work state, I am equally concerned about this dangerous precedent being set. The actions of the NLRB create a climate of economic uncertainty nationwide and have the potential to deter companies from locating and investing in America. Congressman Tim Scott's bill will prohibit this federal board from dictating where businesses can expand so that employers can begin hiring again. I hope the President and his party will join us in supporting this bipartisan effort to remove impediments to job creation so we can get people back to work."
