Governor Susana Martinez issued the following statement commemorating National Hispanic Heritage Month, which begins today and runs through October 15.
"Hispanic Heritage Month is an appropriate time for New Mexicans to reflect on the countless contributions made by people of Hispanic origin to our state's rich history," said Governor Martinez. "New Mexico's vibrant culture is deeply influenced by our Hispanic roots, which can be seen in our art, our architecture, our cuisine, and throughout each of our communities. I am honored to recognize the accomplishments of the Hispanic people throughout our state and honor all of those who have played a role in shaping New Mexico's undeniably unique identity."
