U.S. Senator Chris Coons (D-Del.) today released the following statement after President Obama signed into law the America Invents Act, a comprehensive bill designed to update and streamline the patent system in the United States in order to stimulate investment, promote job creation, and increase global competitiveness:
"This is a good day for American innovators. President Obama today signed into law a bill that I worked hard to pass since arriving in the Senate: the America Invents Act. The bill will help maintain American global competitiveness and leadership in innovation by modernizing the patent office and reforming patent litigation, thereby once again allowing American inventors to become American entrepreneurs. Given our country's urgent need for new jobs, it was important that this bill become law."
