Congressman Blackburn issued the following statement regarding President Obama's address to the Joint Session of Congress:
"House Republicans have led the charge this year on passing legislation to spur job creation. Unfortunately, those bills are still languishing in the Democrat-led Senate. It's past time for the President and his party to get on board. The American people recognize this. They want real solutions, and they are sick and tired of the empty promises.
"Several small business owners and job creators from around the country were in attendance for the President's address tonight. I was proud to host two great business leaders from Tennessee -- Gibson Guitar CEO Henry Juszkiewicz, and Ceridian Executive Vice President Michael Sheridan.
"Henry and Michael have been doing all the right things. They've been creating jobs and training employees for success in the workforce. President Obama could take a lesson from business leaders like Henry and Michael. Going forward, I hope the President will listen to employers and job creators, and get America back to work.
"Businesses like Gibson Guitar and Ceridian are key to getting our nation's economic engine running again. The best thing President Obama could do is to seek the advice of our nation's jobs creators, and then get out of their way."
