U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that Hoyleton Youth and Family Services, which serves the Metro East, has received a $60,644 Project Safe Neighborhoods grant through the U.S. Department of Justice. The funds will be used to reduce violent crime in the communities of East Saint Louis, Eagle Park, Washington Park, Alorton, Brooklyn, Centreville, Venice and Madison, with an emphasis on federally funded housing projects.
"These programs are an important complement to the work of various law enforcement agencies in keeping our neighborhoods safe," said Costello, a former police officer. "I will continue to work to ensure that these resources are available to our communities."
