U.S. Congressman Jason Altmire (PA-04) today was appointed to the Committee on Education and the Workforce for the 112th Congress. Congressman Altmire issued the following statement on his new committee assignment:
"Creating jobs and preparing students to enter the workforce are two of the most important issues facing Congress. I am honored to be selected to serve on this Committee. Western Pennsylvania has some of the most skilled workers in the country. It's important for us to create an environment where they can best put those skills to use, and I look forward to getting to work on this Committee right away."
On the Committee on Education and the Workforce, Congressman Altmire will serve on the Higher Education and Workforce Training and Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) subcommittees.
