Representative Garrett's Rosh Hashanah Statement
September 15, 2004 - To all those in Northern New Jersey observing Rosh Hashanah, Shana Tova, Happy New Year to you, your family and your friends.
Rosh Hashanah is celebrated by Jewish people around the world as the date of the new year. It is a time to reflect on the year gone by and the year upcoming. A time when many, through prayer and personal meditation, will be reflecting on the rights and wrongs they engaged in towards others and those that were done upon them.
Let us also take the time to recognize that this year is believed to be the 350th anniversary of Jewish people landing on American soil. Guided by moral principals, Jewish Americans bring to our nation a rich heritage that recognizes the dignity of every citizen and the possibilities of every life.
May the year upcoming be as sweet as honey. I wish you all the best to you and your family during this holiday season.
