U.S. Rep. Karen Bass released the following statement in advance of the ten year anniversary of September 11th taking place this Sunday. The statement follows:
"As the nation pauses to remember the tragic events of September 11th, we think not only about the innocents who were taken from us that tragic morning, but also their loved ones left behind. In the ten years since the attacks, families have grown up and communities have matured with an emptiness that can never be filled.
"Let the anniversary of these attacks serve as a day of national service where we devote ourselves to bettering our society and country, while caring for these brave families. The assault on our nation can never be forgotten, but through this tragedy we hope for a better tomorrow and an even stronger America where our freedoms and civil liberties are protected."
