McCarthy Statement on Latest Jobs Report

Statement

Date: Sept. 2, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Kevin McCarthy released the following statement regarding this morning's unemployment report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics:

"Earlier this week, House Republicans released our latest economic growth agenda for the fall to rebuild our economy and get Americans back to work. This morning's unemployment report of 9.1% reinforces the economic challenges our nation has faced for more than two years: stagnant economic growth and sustained high unemployment. The President announced this week that he will come to Congress to offer his latest plan for our economy. We look forward to working with the President to get Americans back to work as quickly as possible. But we must focus on serious, detailed policy initiatives that will foster long-term economic growth -- not just short-term stimulus gimmicks."
