Congressman Steve Scalise today released the following statement after the White House announced that President Obama would address a joint session of Congress on Thursday, September 8, the same night as the NFL season opener.
"President Obama could learn a lot from the New Orleans Saints who would tell him that when you're in the big leagues and you're losing, you don't keep running the same failed plays over and over," Scalise said. "We don't need instant replay to show us that President Obama's failed policies and reckless spending have given us higher unemployment and a downgraded credit rating. The President's failed agenda has put far too many American workers on the bench and penalized our nation's economy. If the President's past performance is any indication of what to expect from next week's speech, I wouldn't be surprised if the only leadership we see in prime time Thursday night takes place on the tundra of Lambeau Field. Geaux Saints!"
