Rep. Farenthold Responds to the President's Remarks on Infrastructure Bill

Rep. Blake Farenthold (TX-27) had the following comments on the President's request to pass a clean surface transportation reauthorization:

"As a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I understand the important role the infrastructure system plays in our national economy and job landscape. In July, the Transportation Committee outlined a six-year transportation reauthorization proposal that will streamline and reform existing wasteful federal programs and ensure long term stability for job-creating transportation programs.

"I am committed to working with my colleagues to pass responsible and long overdue transportation legislation putting an end to short term reauthorizations which provide no long term solutions for our nation's vital infrastructure systems. If we continue to kick the can down the road on a long term transportation bill there will eventually be no road left. The time is now to put partisan politics aside and pass a plan that people can depend on."
