Congressman Rivera joined Colombian Ambassador to the United States Gabriel Silva on Wednesday for a visit to the USA Bouquet warehouse and distribution center. USA Bouquet is a national manufacturer and distributor of fresh cut flower bouquets and arrangements. The company, like many fresh flower distributors, receives a majority of their flowers from Colombia and would greatly benefit from the free trade agreement with Colombia.
The tour of the facility was organized by the Association of Floral Importers of Florida.
After the tour, Congressman Rivera stood with Ambassador Silva and made the following statement:
"The most important issue facing this country is the economy and the need to create jobs. The best way to begin to solve the problem of job creation is to pass the free trade agreement with Colombia, which would represent thousands and thousands of jobs for our country and for Colombia--our best ally in Latin America.
"Those who oppose the free trade agreement with Colombia are running out of excuses to continue to delay passage of the trade pact. The most important thing now, is that the White House send the trade agreement to the House of Representatives so that we can take a vote on the floor of the House. We have the votes of Democrats and Republicans--of the Senate and the House. The time has come to pass the Colombia Free Trade Agreement, which represents thousands and thousands of jobs."
