Congressmen John Garamendi (D-Fairfield, CA) is pleased to announce grant funding for Livermore Municipal Airport to complete needed infrastructure repairs. Specifically, the money would rehabilitate a runway and modify a service road to comply with safety recommendations. The Federal Aviation Administration will disburse up to $2 million for these projects. Congressman Garamendi has continually advocated for increasing investment in our transportation infrastructure.

"I commend the Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration for making this investment," said Congressman John Garamendi. "Investing in Livermore Airport will give local residents peace of mind from improved safety. It will also spur job creation through immediate construction work and long-term business activity."

Garamendi added, "I was proud to work with Livermore city officials as we spoke up for the needs of our constituents. I want to thank everyone involved in obtaining this funding. We all look forward to seeing the finished product."

According to a 2001 study, the Livermore Airport contributed over $57 million to the local economy through direct and indirect spending and supported approximately 577 jobs.
