Governor Bentley Statement Regarding Jefferson County Commission Meeting Today

Governor Robert Bentley today issued the following statement after the Jefferson County Commission meeting.

"I commend the Jefferson County Commission for their resilience and their success in obtaining such an attractive offer from the Jefferson County sewer creditors. The county and creditors do not have a definitive deal in place yet but they have a conceptual framework that keeps sewer rate increases at a minimum and resolves the problem once and for all for the county. There's much work left to be done, but we are committed to continuing to work with the county to facilitate a definitive agreement. I spoke with Commissioners by phone this morning and encouraged them to continue their thorough and effective work toward a comprehensive settlement. I am committed to calling a Special Session once a settlement is reached, and I look forward to continuing to work with the Legislative leadership and the Jefferson County delegation to fashion a legislative solution to the county's issue
