Ellmers Statement on Military Tragedy in Afghanistan

Statement

Date: Aug. 7, 2011
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Defense

Congresswoman Renee Ellmers released the following statement this morning from her office in Washington:

"Yesterday morning we heard the tragic news that 30 Americans, including some Navy Seal commandos from the unit that killed Osama bin Laden, were killed in a helicopter attack in Afghanistan. This tragedy reminds us all of how real and challenging the war in Afghanistan continues to be. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends, and loved ones of this, the most deadly attack on American soldiers since the war began nearly a decade ago. We must work toward a secure and victorious end to this conflict while still maintaining the mission of freedom and stability in this conflict-ridden area of the world where terrorism must not be allowed to survive. May God bless our troops and continue to bless the United States of America."
