Idaho has a real opportunity to play a major role in supplying America's energy needs. We are rich in potential for clean energy. In addition to its vast network of emission free hydroelectric power plants, Idaho has extensive geothermal resources. Carbon-neutral biomass from the Northwest is an abundant resource that I hope will grow like our wind and solar industries. All of these forms of energy combine to make Idaho a leader in clean energy.
We also have one of the leading research facilities on another form of clean energy, nuclear power, right here in Idaho at the Idaho National Laboratory. I believe that we must include research and investment in a variety of alternative energy resources. Securing our America's energy needs is not as simple as having one solution. We must invest in various forms of clean energy to help increase competition among energy suppliers making it more affordable for all Americans.
