Congressman Tim Scott (SC-01) tonight issued the following statement following the passage of the Cut, Cap, and Balance Act (HR 2560) in the House of Representatives:

"Tonight my colleagues and I in the House of Representatives took a definitive step in making the tough choices necessary to get our nation's spending and debt under control. For too long, Washington has avoided these hard decisions in the name of political expediency, and tonight that ceased being the case.

I was sent here with a mandate from voters -- get our fiscal house in order. With this vote, they know that I listened. Now it is time for the Senate to show they heard their constituents, as well. I strongly urge the Senate to pass this bill without delay and send it to the President, so we can get our nation moving forward again."
