On April 21, 2010, President Obama nominated Judge Susan Richard Nelson to be District Court Judge for Minnesota. Judge Nelson served as Magistrate Judge in Minnesota for the past ten years, presiding over many important civil and criminal cases and earning a reputation as a fair and impartial judge. Judge Nelson was also rated "Unanimously Well Qualified" for her nomination by the American Bar Association.
Senator Franken was proud to support Judge Nelson's nomination in the Judiciary Committee and on the Senate floor and was thrilled that the Senate confirmed her nomination by a voice vote on December 17, 2010.
