Today, Congressman Joe Heck made the following statement as Clark County's unemployment rose sharply to 13.8% in June.
"As Nevadans suffer through rising unemployment rates, 10 jobs bills passed by the House are sitting in the Senate waiting for action. How many reports must be released before Washington realizes more taxes, more regulation, and more spending are killing Nevada's small businesses? How many Nevada business leaders must speak out against Washington's job-killing policies before Washington listens? I am listening to our job creators, and I am working to address their concerns about taxes, regulation and spending. Despite the fact that only 1 of the 11 jobs bills passed by the House have been taken up by the Senate, I will keep working to pass jobs bills through the House until the Senate begins to hear Nevada's small businesses and acts on their concerns. Nevada's economy will only recover when our job creators' concerns are addressed; it's time Washington realizes that."
