As the war on terror rages on and we look to the future of our armed forces, now more than ever the members of our military deserve a true partner in Washington and in Congress.
The world continues to be a dangerous place, and while I believe in the benefits of diplomacy we must acknowledge the reality that there are groups all over the world who wish to destroy the freedoms we enjoy and the values that make America great. As a result we must continue to be an example to other countries of freedom and prosperity. In order to do this, we must make sure that our commanders on the ground are not hindered from achieving our objective by arbitrary timelines.
I am fully committed to ensuring that our military personnel receive the best equipment, training and support we can give them. For the more than a decade now, these brave men and women have made great sacrifices to defend our country and they deserve our upmost respect and gratitude.
