Issue Position: Government Regulations

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2011

Businesses across the country are struggling to make ends meet in large part due to the growing number of onerous regulations placed on them by federal agencies. As a former small business owner and entrepreneur, I believe that business succeeds when government gets out of the way. We must stop bureaucrats in Washington from usurping Congress's legislative authority and from hindering American companies' ability to thrive and be productive.

You will be pleased to know that I am an original cosponsor of H.R. 10, the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act of 2011. This legislation will return legislative power and government oversight to Congress by requiring approval by Congress of any major rule written by an executive agency.

Please be sure that my colleagues and I are committed to reducing burdensome government regulations. We will fight to create a regulatory environment where businesses can prosper, and the free market can work without the heavy hand of government intervention.
