State Treasurer and Lieutenant Governor candidate Tate Reeves officially opened his Hattiesburg campaign office Thursday afternoon. Many state and local officials were on hand to show their support for his campaign.
Reeves says his campaign has been about focusing on economic development and job creation and prioritizing spending on public education and public safety. He added that the voters are wanting a positive message about what is going to be done to make Mississippi a better place.
"We're focused on why I ought to be Lieutenant Governor, not on why someone else ought not to be," said Reeves. "We're going to keep working hard for the next three and a half weeks and really try to work hard to do well."
Reeves faces fellow Republican Billy Hewes in the August 2nd primary. The winner will be unopposed in the November elections.
