Americans deserve high quality health care at an affordable price. I believe the 2010 health care law hurts the quality of care for Americans without actually reducing costs. For that reason he voted to repeal the law at the start of the 112th Congress. I support enacting incremental reforms such as prohibiting insurance companies from denying coverage to those with pre-existing conditions; enabling individuals to purchase coverage across state lines; and allowing small businesses to pool together to purchase more affordable coverage.
I also support the historic and important role the federal government through the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has played in conducting the basic scientific research necessary for increasing our understanding and providing potential treatments and cures for numerous disease systems ranging from Alzheimer's disease, autism, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, diabetes, cancer and many more illnesses that impact millions of American families.
