Congressman Joe Baca (D-Rialto) issued the following statement today, regarding the National Labor Relations Board's (NLRB) recently released proposal to improve workplace elections by ensuring a fairer process for all parties.
"There are certain fundamental rights that all American workers deserve. Among them are fair wages, affordable health care, the right to unionize, and a workplace that is free from discrimination. The recent proposal by the National Labor Relations Board to modernize the workplace election process serves as an important step forward to ensure greater fairness and transparency in representation elections for both workers and employers."
"The current election process is broken, plain and simple. While certainly not perfect, the proposed NLRB changes will reduce opportunities for those who willingly seek to obstruct or interfere with an election."
"During these difficult economic times, when so many Americans are struggling to get by, it is essential we take all actions possible to help workers improve their jobs and the well being of their families. I believe the NLRB's recently announced proposal is a step in the right direction for working families, and will help to ensure greater balance and fairness for all Americans."
