Bucshon Comments on June Unemployment Rate

Statement

Date: July 8, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Larry Bucshon (IN-08) released the following statement regarding the June jobless rate increasing to 9.2 percent.

Congressman Bucshon states:

"June was another month of a stagnant economy and higher unemployment. Last summer, we were promised a "Recovery Summer' by President Obama that never materialized. Instead, we have been left with an unemployment rate near or above 9 percent since the passing of the Stimulus on February 17, 2009. The American people were promised an unemployment rate under 8 percent as a result of this government spending, instead it only added to our already out of control national debt.

If Hoosiers have to tighten their belts and make tough decisions about spending, so should the Federal Government. We need to cut up the credit cards and get our fiscal house in order, repeal onerous regulations, and create certainty in our tax code if we ever expect to receive an answer to the question, "Where are the jobs?'."
