Tonight, Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick issued the following statement following President Obama's announcement of troop withdrawals from Afghanistan:
"It is important to remember the reasons we went to Afghanistan nearly ten years ago. It was to disrupt a terror network and disable it from ever attacking our nation again. In achieving this goal our men and women in uniform have performed admirably. I am glad that the President recognizes that success in Afghanistan is paramount to the security of our nation and the safety of our people. Like all Americans I want our troops home as quickly and safely as possible. To this end, I hope the President will seek the advice and counsel of our military leaders to ensure that our troops have the resources and support they need to finish the mission in Afghanistan."
