House Republican Policy Committee Chairman Tom Price, M.D. (R-GA) issued the following statement regarding H.R. 2021 -- The Jobs and Energy Permitting Act of 2011 -- legislation to remove the delays blocking offshore energy production.

"Washington has failed the country when it comes to positive solutions for domestic energy production. The bureaucracy has created countless barriers to offshore energy production, decreasing Americans' access to jobs and domestic energy resources. With unemployment at 9.1% and high gas prices hitting Americans in the wallet, Washington must stop foolishly delaying the production of American-made energy," said Chairman Price. "House Republicans have long supported an All-Of-The-Above energy plan that lowers our dependence on foreign sources of energy and creates energy jobs here at home. More American energy means more American jobs and lower energy costs. The Obama Administration's energy policies and the mindless web of regulations imposed by the EPA are holding America back. We call on the Administration to get serious about decreasing our dependence on foreign energy and bringing unemployment down. President Obama should work with House Republicans on our positive solutions to remove these roadblocks to exploration and production."
